White Pine Bison is a veteran-owned and operated bison farm located in the heart of the Ottawa Valley, within the Whitewater Region of Ontario. Established in 2019, our farm is dedicated to preserving and conserving these iconic creatures.
We utilize sustainable farming practices harmonizing with nature, minimizing our ecological footprint. Our mission is to provide our customers with the highest quality products and services, while also preserving the natural beauty of the Ottawa Valley. SUSTAINABLE & ECO-FRIENDLY
Bison farms play a crucial role in the conservation of bison, also known as buffalo. We contribute to the preservation and restoration of the bison population, which was once on the brink of extinction.
Sustainable Agriculture
Bison farms use rotational grazing techniques to mimic the natural movement patterns of wild herds. Bison are well-suited to grazing on native grasses and require minimal human intervention. Our bison are given the space and time they need to grow naturally, without the use of hormones, antibiotics, or finishing.
Climate Mitigators
Bison play a unique role in ecosystem management. Contrary to popular belief, bison do not contribute to the climate crisis our world is facing today. Instead, they help sequester carbon and combat climate change by increasing the carbon storage capacity of grasslands, contributing to a healthier environment.
Land Stewards
Bison move continuously as they eat so no area is overgrazed. Unlike cattle, bison don't rip the grass from the root. Instead, they eat the grass to the ground so it will grow back. Their hooves aerate the soil which helps plant grass seeds, stir up insects for birds, and provides a suitable habitat and nesting grounds for many other species.
